According to Darby, the phrase "Shoulder Sweepers" refers to a dangling pair of earrings that upon movement willingly sweeps the shoulder of the person wearing them. 

As the brand originator, Darby claims any of her earring creations made over the past 40 years should be considered the original, Shoulder Sweepers.
